Volunteering with Lindengate
Lindengate is a registered charity based in Wendover, with a core purpose to offer therapeutic gardening activities to help those with mental health needs to change their lives. They welcome a variety of needs from loneliness through to severe long-term diagnosis, ASD and Dementia, and each user is supported by assessment and work towards attainable goals.
The support that the charity has received has been fundamental to its success so far.
Support from Community Impact Bucks has included support to raise start-up costs of 80k in 6 months; a fund-raising advice surgery; a funding fair and recommended training (e.g. crowdfunding, BCC Providers Forum). Community Impact Bucks has also provided volunteering support such as a volunteer advice surgery; a volunteer hub; expert volunteers and a policy and recruitment support.
Support has also been received in the form of bursaries and grants from trust funds and groups such as Aylesbury Vale DC /Vale of Aylesbury Housing Community Chest, Paradigm Housing, Heart of Bucks and Buckinghamshire County Council/Community Foundation ‘Prevention Matters’.
Volunteers are essential to Lindengate’s success. The presence of volunteers enables the organisation to improve its delivery of a quality service. Lindengate is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers to volunteer and be part of its team.
Volunteers can help in the following ways:
- To help maintain the gardens including the flower borders, fruit and vegetable gardens and to help with new projects.
- People who are good listeners and can easily emphasise with those with mental health needs .
- Keen artists or crafters who enjoy helping others learn new skills.
