Maintaining your independence

Our Additional Housing Management service supports you with managing everyday life should you need it. This could be by providing advice on home or personal security, arranging appropriate support from external agencies, demonstrating equipment or technology to help with independence or social isolation, or even liaising with our internal teams on your behalf about repairs or adaptations you need for your home. There’s just a small weekly charge which could be covered by benefits.*

Another service which is available for a small weekly charge is the First Contact pendant alarm. This gives you instant access to a call centre, twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. You can use the button alarm, worn as a pendant or wrist strap, should you fall or hurt yourself and are unable to get help.

Adaptations to your home help you to live independently when age, illness or disability affects your ability to enjoy your home. We can add grab rails, ramps for dependant wheelchair users and external lighting to entrance doors. We’ll make necessary adaptations up to the value of £2,000. However, if you need major adaptations, such as lowering kitchen work tops or widening doorways, we’ll work with relevant agencies to help you arrange this.

If all members of your household are registered disabled or over state pension age and you’ve lived in your home for at least two years, you may also be eligible for our One room per year’ decoration scheme, where we’ll decorate a room, free of charge, each year.*
