Be alert to doorstep crime this winter

We are working with our residents to keep them safe, but you can help us by making it harder for ‘cuckoos’ to make money.

‘Cuckoos’ target vulnerable people to use their homes as a base to run county line drugs operations. Often they act by befriending their victim, gaining trust and then stealing from them.

We are aware of people working locally who are posing as doorstep sellers, offering items for sale that have been bought fraudulently.

If contacted by a doorstep seller, please say ‘No thank you, please leave’. A trader who ignores a request to leave and not return commits a criminal offence.

Doorstep crimes are becoming increasingly all too frequent. If you have concerns about an elderly neighbour or relative, please get in touch with us. You can report confidentially to our ASB team.
