Ian Silver - Director of Housing and Community Services
I have worked in a senior managerial capacity in social housing for over 30 years, having worked for four different organisations, including three local authorities.
My early experience was gained at Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council on Merseyside where I started as a trainee housing manager having left University in 1983.
I have a passion for providing excellent customer service and I’ve managed every aspect of the housing management service, including Estates Management, Responsive and Planned Maintenance, Caretaking, Tenant Involvement and Supported Housing.
Between 1995 and 2005 I was the Head of the Housing Landlord Service at Aylesbury Vale District Council and led the housing transfer which was the largest ever resident consultation exercise undertaken in the Vale. I was instrumental in setting up the Trust in 2006 and I’m part of the Executive Management Team.
As a member of the Executive Management Team I have been able to shape the strategic management of the Trust and position the business as an important provider of services to some of the most vulnerable residents living in Buckinghamshire.
Over the last 12 months I’ve been looking at ways to improve services for an ageing population, developing the Additional Housing Management Service and promoting independent living.
I am proud to say that the Trust has come a long way from the early days of delivering the Offer Document promises to tenants after the transfer of the housing stock from AVDC in 2006 and I am looking forward to the next 5 years of continued growth.
