Corporate Social Responsibility

The Trust is a registered charity itself, but we also try to identify other charities, both local and national, that we can partner with or support for the benefit of our residents and their communities.

We are committed to running a sustainable business and reducing our environmental impact; our Environment strategy 2020-25 explains how we intend to achieve this.

We also offer the Thriving Communities grant scheme, which awards grants to local charities and community groups.

Giving something back

As you can tell by our vision, ‘homes for living, communities for life’, we are committed to supporting the local communities in which our residents and employees live and work. ‘Giving something back’ is our Corporate Responsibility giving programme, that enables and encourages our employees to support the charities and causes they know are important to local communities. It also covers support we give our residents that is outside of our activities as a Registered Provider.

  • Adopt a Scheme is our internal volunteering activity. Groups of employees are encouraged to ‘adopt’ one of our Independent Living Schemes, where they hold social events such as BBQs, Christmas parties, coffee mornings, quizzes or games evenings. Employees can also help out with gardening, tidying and other simple jobs. It's all about our employees getting together with Independent Living residents to build relationships and combat isolation. Friends of scheme residents are welcome to attend events as well.

  • Employee Fundraising - We all have a charity that we prefer to support, so the Trust offers a fund for employees to boost their fundraising activities. Employees can claim either a modest amount of match funding or reimbursement for fundraising materials.

  • Giving Something Back annual charity - for many years, we have organised a number of fundraising and donation activities over the Christmas period, which has become something of a strong tradition at Fairfax House. This has now grown to adopting an annual charity to focus fundraising for. Our chosen charity for 2020 is Aylesbury Youth Concern.

Our employees frequently enjoy taking part in national fundraising drives. To date, we have raised monies for Children in Need, Cancer Research UK, Shelter Fund just to name a few! We actively encourage our employees to support charities of their choice, whether it is participating in a major fund raising event or running the school raffle, and we will promote their activities and achievements internally on Workplace.
