Cancer Dogs presentation

Westcott-based charity Cancer and Bio-detection Dogs received a welcome boost from the Community Chest fund yesterday (24th March).

Matthew Applegate, Chief Executive of the Trust, and Sarah Rothwell of AVDC, presented Clare Guest with a cheque for £20,000 to help train more dogs like Daisy, Rory and Tangle (pictured) to detect human illnesses by scent. As well as identifying bladder cancer from tiny samples of urine, the charity trains dogs to indicate dangerous changes in blood sugar level in diabetics.

Matthew and Sarah enjoyed a demonstration of the dogs showing their incredible sense of smell at work.
