Equality and diversity

The Trust is committed to promoting equality and diversity in terms of employment and access to all our services.

We aim not to place anyone at a disadvantage because of their:

  • age
  • ethnic origin, race or nationality
  • religious belief
  • disability
  • gender or transgender
  • sexuality
  • offending background (that does not create a risk to children and vulnerable adults)

Our approach to diversity is outlined in our Equality and Diversity Policy.

Understanding our customers

We have promised that our services will meet the needs of customers. By working with them to understand their diverse needs, we can continuously improve and provide high quality services.

Removing barriers

Here are some of the ways we remove barriers, so that everyone can access our services:

  • Offer translated calls through Language Line
  • DDA-compliant lifts and reception area for easy access
  • Parent-friendly "school run" appointment slots
  • Provide a hearing loop in the offices and a mobile one for external meetings
  • Provide newsletters and information in different languages and formats, like Braille, large print and audio
  • Accessibility features on this web site, including reading software, colour changes and language translations
  • Set up our Disability Equality Action Group and Sunshine Group to monitor equality and diversity within the Trust
  • Profiled our residents so that we can understand who lives in our properties and what their needs are
  • Trained our employees in equality and diversity issues

For more information please  contact us.

Single Equality Strategy

In 2010, in line with changes in legislation, the Trust has brought all relevant policies and action plans under the Single Equality Strategy, which sets out our approach to diversity issues and gives more detail on how we make our services accessible to residents and employees.

You can download a copy of the Single Equality Strategy below. If you have any questions about it, or about Equality and Diversity in general, please contact us.
