Domestic Violence

The Trust takes reports of Domestic Violence seriously and is committed to supporting residents and enabling them to live their lives free from fear.

Please be careful

What is Domestic Violence?

Domestic Violence is controlling behaviour and physical, sexual or emotional abuse of another person or persons within a household.

Some examples are:

  • Physical assault
  • Sexual assault, rape
  • Threats, intimidation
  • Psychological or emotional impact
  • Controlling the victim financially

DV happens in all types of families. The perpetrator is often but not always the male partner, although men suffer Domestic Violence too. The pattern of abuse may include other vulnerable adults or children, or they may be used as a bargaining tool to control the victim.

What to do if you experience Domestic Violence

Contact the Trust immediately. We will treat your complaint seriously, sensitively and in confidence. We have dedicated DV Champions who can provide a sympathetic ear, information, and support - as well as practical steps to help a victim take any decisions or action that is best for them.

You may speak to a DV Champion of your own gender if you prefer.
