You are here: Home / For Resident / Anti social behaviour (ASB)
The Trust wants to help build sustainable communities where people want to live and where they can feel safe and free from harassment or fear.
Our Customer Relationship Managers are skilled and knowledgeable and can provide our residents with the help or advice they need. We will take all reports of ASB very seriously and make sure they are investigated and action taken to resolve them.
ASB is any action or conduct that is likely to cause distress or alarm to another. It can take many forms, and vary from just causing nuisance and disturbance, to making people feel threatened and afraid.
It may simply be playing loud music or drinking in the street; or it may be an intentional action like smashing a window to deliberately cause alarm.
We also define as ASB actions which are directed against someone because of his or her race, nationality or ethnic origin as racial harassment.
Some examples are:
Our staff are specially trained to deal with this kind of situation and we also work in partnership with other agencies, like the Police, Social Services, Probation, Council, etc to ensure that problems are resolved.
There are many steps we can take, from mediating with the households concerned to legal action that may lead to Acceptable Behaviour Contracts, Anti Social Behaviour Orders or as a last resort, possibly even eviction.
Legal action is less likely as we have this partnership working that assists with sustaining people’s tenancy by providing help in order to resolve problems.
The Trust believes that everyone has a right to live in their homes free from abuse, threats and stress caused by anti-social behaviour (ASB), whether they are Trust residents or not.
We expect our residents and homeowners to abide by their Tenancy and Leasehold Agreements, which includes ensuring they are not the cause of ASB.
