How to apply for a Community Chest grant

 

Vale of Aylesbury Housing Trust and AVDC jointly provide this fund which donates up to £500,000 per year to local good causes. This page explains how your charity or community group can apply for funding.

Grant Criteria

It is not just registered charities that can apply for Community Chest funding – clubs, societies, associations, parish councils, community interest companies and other social enterprises are also eligible.

However applicants must be formally constituted and operate on a not-for-profit basis. They should also work in the Aylesbury Vale area providing facilities, activities or services for the benefit of local residents.

There are three types of grant:

  • Microgrants of up to £1,000 – these are assessed and awarded on a monthly basis.
  • Project Grants one-off funding up to £25,000 for capital or revenue costs – these are reviewed three times per year.
  • 3YR (three-year revenue funding) up to £25,000 per year. There are a limited number of grants for three year revenue funding . 3YR applications for funding from 2011-14 were considered by the grants panel in 2010.  The next  3YR reopens in 2013 for funding from 2014-17.

Applications must support at least one of the following areas:

  • Stronger communities
  • Safer communities
  • Thriving economy
  • Sustainable environment
  • Health and wellbeing

Grant application deadlines:

  • Community Chest Microgrants (up to £1,000) are reviewed monthly – closing date is the 15th of each month.
  • Project Grant – there are three project grant panel meetings per year. The next closing date is 9th December 2011, for applications up to £25,000.

Please note application forms are not available online – this is to ensure that you do not apply for the wrong grant or put a lot of time and effort completing forms  for a grant you may not be eligible for.
